DEC 5 | Christmas Potluck and Members Slideshows Our December 5, 2024 club meeting is a little different from our regular club meetings. We have a holiday pot luck dinner and members get to present their photography via a slide show. Important: This December we are also meeting in a different meeting room than normal because Eagan needed the Training room for some other purpose. The meeting details are provided below. We are also starting a little earlier for the pot luck dinner. Meeting Time and Location Date: Thursday, December 5, 2024 Time: 6pm-8:30pm Location: Eagan Municipal Center Eagan Municipal Eagan Room 3830 Pilot Knob Rd. Eagan, MN 55122 Enter the building on the upper level off Civic Center Dr. The upper entrance doors should unlock and the room should be open by 6pm so that we may begin setting up the pot luck dinner. The Eagan room is inside the upper entrance doors on the left. If for some reason you enter on the lower level you will need to continue straight past our usual room and either go up the stairs or find the elevator past the stairs. I am not even sure if the lower level building entrance doors will be unlocked. If they are not unlocked you may need to walk through the small park to the upper level entrance. See the annotated overhead photo of the parking and building below. |

MAR 23 | PSA Gallery Update The winning images for the 2023-2024 PSA Rounds 1 and 2 are now in the PSA Gallery. So far, David Perez has done a clean sweep of Rounds 1 and 2, including an Award of Merit (PSA's highest award) for his 'Barrel Racer'. Congrats, David! Updated PSA scores thru Round 2 are here . My Meeting The next My Meeting is scheduled for March 21 at the Farmington Library (508 Third St., Farmington). Ben Ackerman will be the guest presenter. I have had the privilege of seeing and discussing some of Ben's photographs. To say that Ben is a very different kind of photographer is an understatement. His images are almost always an interpretation of a 'feeling' and are very thought-provoking. Do not miss this one. Photographer's Playground Date changed and venue announced for the March Photographer's Playground - Video. See schedule below. February's Photographer's Playground - Refraction took the MVPC members indoor to photograph crystal balls. It seems that the crystal balls were not any good for showing the future, but was great at showing refractions of objects. FEB 26 | Salon Winning Images and Scores Congratulations to Julie Ackerman for winning 'Best in Show' in the February salon with her '1800 Piano and Player'. Looks like ghosting photography is a good technique to learn. See the paragraph on 'My Meeting' below. Winning images for the February, 2024 salon are now in the MVPC Gallery. February, 2024 salon scores also available for download. My Meeting Julie Ackerman held a session on Ghost Photography at the Feb. 8 My Meeting. Later, meeting participants tried their hand at ghost photography. Check out some of the images that Bob Tourdot provided here. Unfortunately, images taken by other participants may have become ghosts. If you missed the meeting, avail yourself of the handout and the video of the tutorial. FEB 1 | January salon images are posted in the Salons Gallery. Congratulations to Bev Kiecker and Ken Cheung for their Best In Show images. January salon scores are also now available. Don T. led a "Winter Wonderland Photo Hike" over and around the Old Cedar Avenue Bridge in Bloomington. On their walk, they run across a penguin! YES, A PENGUIN! Check it out. "Urban Nights", the first of the Photographer's Playground series of 2024 led the MVPC members to the Minneapolis historic riverfront, photographing the iconic Grain Belt Beer sign, bridges and buildings. Check out all those Grain Belt Beer signs. Which one is the best? Arik Gorban's notes on last month's program "Travel Photography" is now available. NOV 13 - New WEBSITE LAUNCHED
Welcome to the new MVPC website. We completely refreshed our website to give you a much better browsing experience and to better protect your images. Let us know what you think, what you like and what you don’t like, in the ‘Comments’ page.
Like most websites, you will not get instructions on how to navigate the site. If you find areas where you are having problems navigating, contact the [email protected]. Let us know what you’re having problems with, and we will fix it.
Some of the features of the new site are:

Secure – The website is hosted in a secured environment and the website itself is locked down; copy and paste of images is not allowed.

Mobile-friendly – You can now browse the site on your tablet or your phone. However, we have not tested the site on all tablets and phones. Let us know via the ‘Comments’ page if you run into problems.

Informative – The Home Page contains a section called “What’s Happening / What’s News”. This section provides a quick glance of what’s happened and what’s happening in the club. Web updates will also be announced in this section. The Eagan Events are also featured in the Home page so people interested in photographing the Eagan events can find out what’s happening in Eagan.

Showcases – Best in Shows for the whole year are featured on the Home page. There are galleries for all the Salons – MVPC, PSA, N4C, and TCACCC. Winning MVPC Salon images for the month are also featured in the Salon page.

Events – We will feature events on their own pages, with write-ups and images from each event. The Photographer’s Playground is a monthly event led by Don Tredinnick. Check the ‘Photographer’s Playground” page regularly to see what Don has in store for us each month.

Resources – We have reorganized our resources to make it easier to find documents or videos. They are organized by what we do as photographers – plan, shoot, post process, and compete. Additional resources like equipment, club documents and links to other websites are also included.

Comments – We added a Comments page so we can have ongoing discussions on what we can do to improve the club and this website. Send us your suggestions!
